POSITION TITLE:     Summer High School Assistant Principal

POSITION GOAL(S):
In collaboration with the Summer School Principal, supervise a summer school program for secondary students. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Equity and Innovation/Teaching and Learning Directors and Coordinators to prepare for and oversee the operation of the summer program. Lead and coordinate program planning and oversee operation of the program. Oversight responsibilities include staff hiring and supervision, staff assignment, registration and scheduling, communication, supervision, student management, material acquisition, organization and site management, and program evaluation.
 
JOB DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
1. Ensure a successful summer school experience for all students, staff, and families.
2. Collaborate with central office departments to prepare, plan, and implement summer programming.
3. Assist the summer school principal to interview and hire all summer school teachers and staff
4. Work with the administrative team and professional development providers to organize the agenda, prepare training materials, and deliver professional development.
5. Oversee the process of staffing, logistics, and communication to staff, students, and families.
6. Prepare student rosters, assign classrooms, and create the master schedule.
7. Implement summer school policies and provide professional development to staff and students on summer school expectations.
8. Work with the professional development providers to organize the agenda, prepare training materials, and deliver professional development to summer school staff
9. Conduct classroom observations on a regular basis to ensure fidelity of curriculum implementation and provide coaching and feedback to teaching staff.
10. Actively participate in all professional development opportunities.
11. Maintain teacher and student attendance.
12. Ensure student grades are updated on a regular and ongoing basis and coordinate intervention to ensure student success
13. Contact families of students who are absent.
14. Oversee the collection and return of all designated summer materials.
15. Other duties as assigned.
  
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
 
1. Five (5) years of teaching experience and two years of administrative experience and/or large-scale instructional change projects (principalship preferred).
2. Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to present information before large and small groups.
3. Thorough knowledge of school code, state and federal laws and District policies.
4. Maintain complete and accurate records and statistics to analyze and create related meaningful reports as required by school need or assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
5. Ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.
6. Demonstrated interest, knowledge and/or experience in serving culturally and linguistically diverse students.
  
EDUCATION:
 
1. Master’s Degree in Education
2. Professional Educator License with General Administrator or Principal endorsement.
3. Successfully completed all PERA module designations required to evaluate certified staff (Teacher & Principal) (preferred), if not must successfully complete by the start of summer school.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a temporary position. Availability after school, weekends and summer weekdays in January, February, March, April, May, June and July for staffing, professional development and other administrative responsibilities is required and included in the overall salary. Preference will be given to current administrators at the host site.

One day of professional development is required for all summer experiences. This will occur on July 27, 2025. HHMS, KMS and LMS will host MSE on August 7-8. EHS will host FC on August 7-8

Summer staff is expected to be at school 15 minutes prior to the school day and 15 minutes after the school day concludes.

Function / Position Summary
 
The prevention, mitigation, response and recovery for safety and security at secondary schools. Assist in the administrative functions of the Dean’s/Principal’s office. Supervision of cafeteria, hallways and other public areas on school grounds, with a focus student safety and security of the building and property
 
Job Duties / Responsibilities
 
• Ability to interact in different situations.

• Ability to communicate clearly and precisely under stressful conditions.

• Supervision in maintaining an orderly atmosphere, which is conducive to educational development and individual growth.

• Support the administration in the implementation of district and school regulations and policy. This includes but is not limited to enforcing and monitoring dress code, ID compliance, pass privileges, visitors, school assemblies, before and after school security, bus arrivals and/or departures, lunchroom, parking lot, escorting students in the building, and other assigned areas.

• Supervision of behavior management in the halls, bathrooms, office, classroom, grounds and extra-curricular programs and events.

• Take all reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, staff and facilities.

• Work professionally and cooperatively with administration, colleagues, and school personnel.

• Supervision of conflict resolution and crisis intervention.

• Assist in investigations, translations (if applicable), and staff consultations.

• Assist with e emergency response management according to District procedures and as directed by the principal/designee.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Bilingual – Spanish/English (written/verbal) preferred.
 
Experience / Knowledge
 
• Ability to work with high school students
 
Physical Demands
 
• Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

• Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
 
Terms of Employment
 
• This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education. U-46 reserves the right to terminate the position by the third day of student attendance if a minimum number of students do not register or enroll.
Summer Experiences will be held at each secondary school.



The following schools will have Middle School Experience of Freshman Connection on July 29-30: AMS, CMS, EMS, EVMS, KWMS, TMS, BHS, LHS, SEHS and SHS.

One day of professional development is required for all summer experiences. This will occur on July 27, 2025. HHMS, KMS and LMS will host MSE on August 7-8. EHS will host FC on August 7-8

Summer staff is expected to be at school 15 minutes prior to the school day and 15 minutes after the school day concludes.

Staff hours: 7:45 am - 12:15 pm

Student school day: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Function / Position Summary
 
To perform office reception and clerical duties in support of the summer school office. Works independently when necessary. Effectively interacts with staff and co-workers in a professional manner. Prioritizes tasks and utilizes excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure all assigned timelines are met. With administrative guidance, works to ensure a safe school operation through office assistance, positive customer service, and directed procedures.
 
Job Duties / Responsibilities
 
• Provides secretarial support in the Main Office, to ensure students, staff, parents and the public are properly assisted and are scheduled to meet with the appropriate administrator as needed for information/resolution. Coordinates and schedules meetings, and related tasks, including the preparation and distribution of necessary documents.

• Contacts parents/guardians, and others as instructed by the summer school administrator.

• Maintains files, including data entry (as assigned). Assists with the preparation and distribution of documents/reports/letters on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, as assigned.

• Maintains excellent communication and customer service with staff, students, and others who might visit the main office.

• Other tasks as assigned
 
Education
 
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
 
Experience / Knowledge
 
• Three (3) years of secretarial experience in a high school setting (preferred)

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish – Written/Verbal)
 
Physical Demands
Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 25 lbs.
