Function / Position Summary
Support and assist students in completing the College Jumpstart curriculum. Facilitator will help students to have a strong jumpstart to the post-secondary process by helping students to create a college list, write personal and supplemental application essays, and/or help with the application process.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Facilitator will be responsible for supporting opening SEL lessons and providing lessons for their assigned content.
Maintains accurate student attendance records each day
Delivers College Jumpstart curriculum which will support senior students formulate a successful post-secondary plan.
Works in collaboration with College Jumpstart coordinator and other facilitators
Monitor and support student progress on a daily basis to ensure students stay on track to meet program goals.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (required).
ISBE Educator License preferred.
Bilingual - Spanish/English (written/verbal) preferred

Experience / Knowledge
Must exhibit willingness and capacity to use all relevant forms of instructional technology.
Experience interacting and managing students grades 7-12.
Prefer experience and knowledge about the college application and financial aid process.
Prefer experience in teaching the essay writing process.
Physical Demands
Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
Terms of Employment
This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
Professional development date: August 3 2025 - 7:45am - 12:15pm
Student Programming Dates: August 4-August 5 - 8:00am - 12:00pm
Program location: Elgin HS
Staff work hours: 7:45am - 12:15pm
Summer Experiences will be held at each secondary school.
The following schools will have Middle School Experience of Freshman Connection on July 29-30: AMS, CMS, EMS, EVMS, KWMS, TMS, BHS, LHS, SEHS and SHS.
One day of professional development is required for all summer experiences. This will occur on July 27, 2025. HHMS, KMS and LMS will host MSE on August 7-8. EHS will host FC on August 7-8
Summer staff is expected to be at school 15 minutes prior to the school day and 15 minutes after the school day concludes.
Staff hours: 7:45 am - 12:15 pm
Student school day: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
