    Function / Position Summary
    Provide leadership in student wellness by developing, facilitating and evaluating all district physical education and health (social emotional) programs, curriculum, and resources in order to meet the needs of all students. Work collaboratively with stakeholders in the implementation of district curriculum and resources with fidelity in alignment with the district strategic plan to ensure learning experiences that use high impact instructional strategies.
     
    Job Duties / Responsibilities
    • In collaboration with representatives from district departments and programs, lead the development of curriculum and research-based instructional strategies for physical education and health (social emotional) education following standards-based learning and assessment guiding principles and ensuring that state mandates are met.
    • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of standards-based curriculum, curricular resources, instructional strategies, and assessments used for core instruction to ensure alignment and implementation of curriculum across all grade levels, courses, and schools.
    • Analyze common assessment data and resource usage to communicate a clear and concise plan for continuous improvement in alignment with the district strategic plan.
    • Serve as an expert in national trends and best practices in physical education and health (social emotional) program development, including instructional strategies to support all students especially historically underachieving students.
    • Plan, provide and evaluate professional development and support for all staff to implement the physical education and health (social emotional) curriculum and curricular resources, including for new teachers, summer programs, specialized staff.
    • Work collaboratively with other content area coordinators and directors to ensure equity, alignment, cohesion and integration across departments and grade levels.
    • Schedule and facilitate committees and meetings at all levels as directed by district needs.
    • Coordinate the distribution and ordering of instructional materials.
    • Maintain communication and collaborative partnerships that enhance a positive relationship with all stakeholders.
    • Analyze, plan and design a master schedules, using input from staff to best serve the requirements and philosophy of the instructional program in alignment with district goals.
    • Establish and support the implementation of student wellness policies in order to assure effective conditions for learning.
    • In collaboration with other departments, plan, coordinate, and direct the process to identify, diagnose, and recommend educational program placement for all students with special needs to better deliver educational services.
    • Collaborate with the grants department to write and manage grants.
    • Develop and administer a budget which follows established fiscal parameters to make the best educational use of district funds.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Education
    • Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
    • Professional Educator License (PEL) with PreK-12 P.E. and/or Health endorsement.
    • PERA module designations (Teacher and Principal) required.
    • Bilingual or ESL endorsement preferred.
    Experience / Knowledge
    • Thorough knowledge of state and national standards, physical education and health (social emotional) programming, curriculum development, and assessment systems.
    • Previous budget management experience preferred.
    • Experience in developing and providing professional learning.
    • Experience writing and managing grants preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years effective teaching experience.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of data analysis and interpretation methodologies.
    • Able to problem solve as a member of a collaborative team to support continuous improvement and increased student achievement.
    • Strong program organization and management skills.
    Physical Demands
    • Transport equipment and instructional materials between sites.
    • Ability to work on a computer over a major portion of the day.
    • This job operates in a professional office environment and requires appropriate business-like apparel.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with proper technique.
    • Travel may be required.
    Terms of Employment
    • This is a 12-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
    • The salary range for this position is  $100,716.00 to $151,055.00. It is our typical practice to hire in between the minimum and midpoint ($125,888.00).
